Zimbabwe

In 1903 missionaries from Sweden, serving in Natal, South Africa, arrived in then Southern Rhodesia. This brought them in contact with Zulu-related people, the Ndebele. Other faith communions had arrived in this region earlier; as early as 1861 the London Missionary Society had established a mission to the Ndebele. A comity agreement assigned the Church of Sweden Mission a territory in the country’s southwest, in Matabeleland with Bulawayo as the main city.
