Venezuela

The history of the Lutheran Church in Venezuela goes back to the last decade of the 19th century, when German immigrants founded a Lutheran congregation.  After the World War II new ethnic groups such as Hungarians and Estonians arrived and founded their congregations.  Until 1985 the Lutheran Council in Venezuela was the official representative of all Lutheran congregations in the country; in the same year this Council was transformed into a national church, Evangelical Lutheran Church in Venezuela.
