1737, the Moravian mission was the first to start mission work, followed by German, Scandinavian, and American Lutherans.1872, settlers from Holland and Germany brought Lutheranism to Cape Town. The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Africa (ELCSA) was constituted in 1975 by four autonomous regional churches. The Cape Church was formed in 1964 and is formed of German descent. The ELCSA (N-T) was constituted in 1981. The majority of the members are descendants of early German settlers and missionaries. The MCSA was formed in 1973 when two Moravian churches in widely separated areas of Cape Province merged.

ELCSA (N-T):

eQuip 2017: 500 years of reformation is celebrated. Therefore it is focused within a seminary on what Reformation can mean for us today.
