Kuala Lumpur
Malaysia

The first Lutherans in Malaysia were Tamils who migrated from South India in the latter part of the 19th century. They organized themselves as a Lutheran congregation at Kuala Lumpur in 1907. A pastor was assigned from India and in 1923 a new center was opened at Penang. In 1953, the United Lutheran Church in America took up work in Malaysia among the Chinese.
