Austria

The Lutheran Reformation came early to Austria. In the 1570s, church orders (liturgy, constitution, guidelines) on the Saxony model were provided for Lutheran parishes in Lower Austria, Styria and Carinthia. During the 17th century Lutheranism went underground for approximately six generations and reappeared again after Emperor Joseph II´s Edict of Toleration (1781).
