Angola

The Lutheran missionary work in Angola started in the South by the Rhenish missionaries from Germany, August Wulfhorst (Hashipala) and Meisenhol, from 1891 to 1915. Four mission stations and many preaching points were built among Kwanyama people.
The first baptism was held at Omupanda in 1895, with thirteen persons baptized. The second baptism was celebrated in Ondjiva in 1897. For the period up to 1928, 1,200 people were baptized in Southern Angola.
